Spring budburst 2010
22/03/2010
This Spring has been one of the slowest to arrived in perhaps 3 decades. Horse chestnut budburst is only starting (March 22nd). It has been dry and sunny
for the last month but temperatures have been below normal. The ground is cold and growth stifled because of this. However the south westerly weather systems have returned and soil temperatures are now creeping up. There is heat in the sun. Expect a greening of the countryside over the next 10 days with the Horse chestnut leading the way. Sighting can be entered on www.naturescalendarireland.com or by clicking the Nature's Calendar tab on above. Don't forget to enter a date for the sighting!
